After an evening dancing barefoot to celtic music on a beer covered floor in Toronto's east end, Jo-Anne and Vanessa's friendship was sealed. They have been friends and shooting together for over 10 years.
Vanessa studied fine art photography at the Ontario College of Art and Design, practicing her art in Florence, Italy, for a year before settling in Toronto with her full time careers as mother, photographer and designer.
Jo-Anne trained extensively with other photographers and completed an internship at Magnum Photos in the UK in 2000. She has since worked full time as a documentary photographer in Toronto and abroad. She also works as an animal defender through her documentary project We Animals, which is being featured in the upcoming Canadian documentary The Ghosts In Our Machine.
Jo-Anne and Vanessa bring unique and complementary skills to their business which is what makes their style so unique and why clients enjoy working with them so much. They love the fun and challenge of creating personal and beautiful artwork out of everything they document. They also love placing bets on how many people at each shoot will ask if they are sisters. Yes...they look a lot alike.
2010 and 2011 were very busy years for the business, so Jo-Anne and Vanessa are thrilled to introduce a new photographer to the team, Lesley Marino. They have worked with Lesley for many years now and, like them, she is crazy in love with the rush of taking amazing pictures.
Aside from photography, they are all very curious about the world, adore travelling, don't eat animals, and love to laugh – a lot.
